Manufactured by Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and gained by the U.S. Air Force on May 12 1967. Jun 1967 To 504th Tactical Air Support group (Pacific Air Forces), Binh Thuy Air Base, Vietnam. Oct 1967 To Da Nang AB, Vietnam. Nov 1969 Aircraft dropped from inventory. (Additional Information from another source, though it is un-confirmed) U.S. Air Force Captain John Robert Baldridge Jr. was from Memphis, TN and born on November 2 1946 and married when he was lost. Captain Baldridge was a Lopez Forward Air Controller assigned to the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron at Da Nang Air Base in South Vietnam. He was flying O-2A s/n 67-21301 along with U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Walter A. Renelt. Both men were checking roads and trails 20 miles west of Kham Duc when the aircraft was shot down in Laos, his body was not recovered. He was promoted while missing and was a graduate of Texas A&M University. his name is loacted at 16W 097 on the Vietnam Memorial. Lieutenant Colonel Walter A. Renelt was from Wilmont, South Dakota and born on April 24 1929 he was also married and was also a Lopez Forward Air Controller assigned to the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron at Da Nang when he was lost over Laos. Lt Col Renelt was promoted while missing, his body was not recovered, his name is located at 16W 103 on the Vietnam Memorial. |
