 Manufactured by Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and gained by the U.S. Air Force on August 31 1967. Its construction number was 337M-0084 and it was the 84th O-2A off the assembly line. Sept 1967 To 504th Tactical Air Support Group, 23rd Tactical Air Support Squadron (Pacific Air Forces), Nakhon Phanom Royal Tahi Air Force Base, Thailand. Nov 17 1968 Aircraft dropped from U.S. Air Force inventory as a combat loss, total hours of flight on the airframe are currently unknown. Additional Information: F-100D 56-3452 309th Tacical Fighter Squadron, 31st Tactical Fighter Wing, USAF, Tuy Hoa Capt Welch (survived) O-2A 67-21378 23rd Tactical Air Support Squadron, 504th Tactical Air Support Group, USAF, Nakhon Phanom Capt Grenoble (survived) An F-100 and an O-2 collided in mid-air over South Vietnam. It is very possible that the O-2 was at that time controlling the air strike for the F-100 mission. Fortunately, for both pilots, they survived the mid-air collision and were rescued by Jolly Green 15 which was flown by USAF Lt Col Royal Brown. |
